Family sessions are all about capturing your family as you are right now, from the big smiles and silly personalities to the little moments you may not realize you want to remember. Whether you are looking for a Gilbert family photographer, a Mesa family photographer, or a Phoenix family photographer, I want your session to feel relaxed, natural, and true to your family.
I offer both 30-minute and 60-minute family sessions, with most families being surprised by just how much we can capture in a shorter session. A 30-minute session is perfect for smaller families of six or fewer people and gives us plenty of time for a variety of groupings and photos. For extended families, larger groups, or sessions combining multiple focuses, like family photos alongside a maternity session, I recommend a full 60-minute session. It is rare that I suggest going beyond an hour for a single family session.
What to Expect in Your Family Session
You do not have to know how to pose for photos before your session. That is what I am there for! I will come prepared with ideas and help guide you through posing throughout your family photoshoot, while still leaving plenty of room for things to happen naturally. If you have specific poses, combinations, or photos you have seen and want to recreate, I am always happy to incorporate those, too.
During a typical family session, we will capture a mix of posed and candid photos. We will start with everyone together, then work through different combinations so you have more than just one family photo to choose from. This can include photos of all the kids together, individual children, siblings, mom with the boys, dad with the girls, and all sorts of other combinations.
Even during a 30-minute session, we can capture a surprisingly wide variety of images. My goal is to keep things moving while still giving you time to interact, laugh, snuggle, and let your kids be themselves. Those little in-between moments often end up being some of my favorite photos from a session.

Family Photography FAQs
How long is a family photography session?
I offer both 30-minute and 60-minute family sessions. A 30-minute session is typically perfect for families of six or fewer, while I recommend 60 minutes for extended families, larger groups, or sessions with multiple focuses.
What should we expect during our family photoshoot?
I will guide you through posing and combinations throughout the session, so you do not need to worry about knowing what to do. We will capture both posed portraits and more candid moments, along with lots of different groupings of your family.
What combinations of photos do you take?
We will capture the whole family together, siblings, individual children, parents with different children, and other combinations depending on your family. There is a lot we can accomplish even during a 30-minute family session.
How many photos will we receive?
You will receive all of the edited photos from your session. I do not cap your gallery at a specific number of images. The final number varies depending on the session, and you can look through my Recent Sessions to get an idea of what different galleries look like.
Where do family sessions take place?
I have a variety of outdoor locations to choose from throughout the Phoenix and East Valley areas, or you can choose a location of your own. If you have somewhere special in mind, just let me know and we can see if it will work well for your session.
